Jeff Suppan's wallet after tonight: + $312,500
The hitting certainly did suffer tonight. Some of the better hitters on the team struggled a little at the plate, but Soup picked them up and carried them through 8. Weeks drilled an RBI triple down the left field line to knock in the only run scored throughout the entire game.
Jeff Suppan threw shutout ball through 8 innings. His final line: 8IP, 7 K's, 4 H's, 0 ER's. Although many criticize my comments about Soup, I will continue to stand by my guns. He is good for some stellar outings, I have to give him that, but he often leaves me asking the question..."Which Jeff Suppan will show up tonight?" My good friend often told me during the 2007 season that Jeff Suppan routinely collected his paycheck with a handgun and ski mask. Anybody that tries to tell me that Jeff Suppan is not overpaid can promptly suck my dangle. Many people see a guy like Suppan have a terrific outing, and later forget about the money we pay him for a couple of those a year. I do not. I figured I would just get this out in the open. Not to say Soup is a bad guy or anything, but until he can make 80% of his starts "Quality Starts," I will consider it worth paying him that disgusting amount of money.
I find it hard to go to the well of anger on the nights we win. I could talk some shit about management, but I seem to have a smile on my face...
...for now
